- Health and Nutrition Program
The "Healthy Communities, Bright Futures" Initiative addresses critical health challenges through integrated community-based interventions. In Maternal and Child Health, the program involves training 120 community health volunteers across six counties, providing prenatal care support to over 2,800 pregnant mothers, conducting childhood immunization campaigns, and implementing nutrition education and supplementation programs. In Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), efforts include constructing 35 water points in underserved communities, installing 250 household latrines, conducting hygiene education campaigns in schools and communities, and implementing water quality testing and treatment programs. Disease Prevention and Health Education initiatives cover HIV/AIDS awareness and testing campaigns, malaria prevention through the distribution of treated nets, tuberculosis screening and support programs, and mental health awareness and support services. A Case Study - Transforming Community Health describes how a comprehensive WASH intervention in Kanyada village, Homabay County, including a solar-powered water system and latrines, led to zero cholera cases for three consecutive years among 2,400 residents, demonstrating the power of integrated health programming
