Operational Challenges

St. Martin CBO faces several operational challenges. Funding Sustainability remains a significant concern, with 78% of funding coming from external sources, making the organization susceptible to donor dependency. To address this, a resource mobilization strategy encompassing local fundraising, social enterprise development, and enhanced government partnerships is being implemented. Geographic Dispersion across six counties presents logistical and coordination challenges, leading to high transportation costs, communication barriers, and the need for adaptive programming approaches due to varying local contexts. Capacity Building Needs have arisen from rapid organizational growth, which has sometimes outpaced capacity development. Staff turnover in remote areas and the need for specialized technical skills in monitoring and evaluation, financial management, and program design continue to be ongoing challenges

St. Martin Community-Based Organization (CBO) is a dynamic faith-based community development agency established to transform lives and communities across western Kenya. Founded on Christian principles of love, compassion, and service, the organization has been at the forefront of empowering vulnerable populations, particularly children, youth, and women, in Homabay, Kisumu, Migori, Siaya, Kisii, and Nyamira Counties.

We welcome inquiries from donors, partners, volunteers, and community members.
